In 1950, Mr. Ad Ebrum Deville retired from the City of Miami Fire Department. At that time there were no fire equipment companies in the city. Mr. A.E. Deville opened Miami Fire Equipment in a rented building on Flagler St. near 27th Ave. After 2 years, growth dictated the establishment of a new building around the corner at 150 S.W. 27th Ave. (present location). This new building and adjacent parking provided the opportunity for further growth. Mr. A.E. Deville ran the business along with his wife Etta Josephine for 15 years.
During that time Miami Fire grew from a small one truck extinguisher service entity to a substantial fire and safety company. In 1965, Philip Ray Deville acquired the company and continued to build the business. The service and installation of restaurant kitchen hood systems provided expanding opportunities. The latest equipment in extinguisher service technology was installed as a modern facility emerged.
In continuing with this tradition Valerie Deville, the daughter of Philip Deville, has been running the company since 1994. As third generation, I want to provide quality service at a competitive price. The company is celebrating its 65th anniversary and we look forward to many more. I want to say “thank you” to all of customers for choosing us for their fire extinguisher or fire systems service.
